(“Company”) (NASDAQ: SMBC), the parent corporation of Southern Bank (“Bank”), today announced preliminary net income for the first quarter of fiscal 2026 of $15.7 million, an increase of $3.2 million or 25.6%, as compared to the same period of the prior fiscal year. The increase was due primarily to higher net interest income and slightly lower non-interest expense. This was partially offset by an increase in provision for credit loss (PCL) expense, lower noninterest income and higher provision for income taxes.
