After a lackluster performance last year, the big-screen movie company returned to profit growth in the first half of 2025 on the back of box office blockbuster ‘Ne Zha 2'

IMAX China CEO Daniel Manwaring says regulators in mainland China still want to grow the country's film industry and allow as many movies into the country as possible, despite tensions with the US. He speaks exclusively with David Ingles and Rebecca Choong Wilkins on "Bloomberg: The China Show" after the company logged record box office sales over the Lunar New Year holiday.

Imax said today it won't proceed with its proposed acquisition of the outstanding stake in Imax China after a vote of shareholders of its subsidiary fell short. Some 70% of the shares voted were in favor of the deal, but those against exceeded the 10% threshold required by Hong Kong law to defeat a privatization transaction.

Hollywood releases may add to business in the second half
